Nevada Succeeds at CCSD Town Hall Meetings

Over the past month, the Clark County School District has been hosting town halls to determine the future direction of education reform and the superintendent search process. Nevada Succeeds has attended every meeting so far from Southwest Las Vegas to Mesquite to the Latino Corridor. At these meetings, we have been listening to all segments of society from teachers to students to community leaders.

We have also spoken out in favor of ensuring that the CCSD determines a process for hiring the best possible leader for the district. We are not advocating a specific person for the position at this time. We will do whatever can to support Interim Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky to ensure that he can support student achievement in the near term.

Additionally, these meetings have included discussions about the Common Core, English Language Learners, and school safety, all important issues. Nevada Succeeds supports the rolling out of the Common Core State Standards in Nevada along with targeted, individualized support for ELLs.
