Setting Benchmarks for Zoom Schools

Earlier this week, the state of Nevada released the 2012-2013 data on schools. There is lots of interesting data points to look through in this analysis. However, we chose to keep our focus on the Zoom Schools, as these 20 schools (14 in Clark and 6 in Washoe) are going to be the keys to the future of ELL services in Nevada.

In the below table, we listed all of the zoom schools with their current star level (1-5, all are 3 or below), points (0-100), and their current reading proficiency level (for their 3-5 graders). Using a standard bell curve, we estimated an ambitious, yet reasonable goal for reading proficiency in these schools for the following school year. Please let us know what you think of these ideas in the comment section below!
